ZL1 Camaro’s Engine Figures Speculated from Recent SAE Testing

Nonstop talks and speculations about the new monster chevy’s final horsepower and torque figures have circulated widely in the automobile industry. After all, we’re talking about the recently revealed pre-production ZL1 Camaro whose super engine is patterned after that of the Cadillac CTS-V’s LSA power plant.

Among the figures thrown in the air by experts and enthusiasts alike, most experts agree that the final numbers are close to that of the Caddy’s engine that comes with 556 horsepower and 551 lb-ft torque. Its Caddy-inspired figure winded down when GM stated that they don’t want the ZL1 Camaro to step over that of the Corvette ZR1′s LS9 with its massive 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft torque. New figures start to emerge.

The 1.9 liter supercharged LSA powerplant comes with a compression ratio of 9.0:1. The Cadillac CTS-V also comes with a higher hood line and a larger intercooler. Plus, the Cadillac CTS-V’s design allows optimum flow. With these engine features, the Caddy’s engine figures is unlike other performance cars’ engines. However, the new monster Chevy, the ZL1 Camaro, is rumored to ride side-by-side with the likes of Ford’s up and coming Shelby GT500 with speculated turbocharged engine figures rising up to 650 horsepower.

We have yet to hear of the monster Chevy’s final figures, however, reliable hush-hush from the recently concluded SAE testing reveals that the final numbers comes close to “North of 570 HP”. Anytime now, we might be hearing of the ZL1 Camaro’s engine numbers to stop the speculations once and for all.
